What the tools do with your information
The court finder, deadline calculator, route finder, fee waiver worksheet and filing packet builder run entirely in your browser. What you type is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Fee waiver worksheet. If you choose “Yes, save here,” your answers are stored in your browser's local storage on that device until you click “Erase my answers,” turn saving off, or clear your browsing data. If you choose “No,” nothing is stored and your answers disappear when you close the page. “Download my progress” saves a file to your device. That file is yours; keep it somewhere private.
- Filing packet builder. It works the same way as the worksheet: it asks first whether to save on this device, it can download your progress to a file, and “Erase my answers” wipes what it saved. The PDFs and the Word-compatible file are created in your browser and saved straight to your device. They are never uploaded. To fill in the official forms, your browser downloads the blank U.S. Courts PDFs from our server and types your answers into them on your device. The PDF tool (pdf-lib, an open-source library) is served from our own server too.
- Shared or public computers. Choose “No” when a tool asks about saving, and delete any downloaded files before you leave.
- Calendar files. The deadline calculator creates the calendar file in your browser.
What we don't do
- No cookies.
- No analytics, advertising pixels or tracking scripts.
- No third-party fonts or scripts. Everything is served from our own server.
- We don't sell, rent or share personal information.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our web server automatically records basic technical details for each request: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and referring page. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, and we don't keep them longer than we need to.
If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply. Please don't send private details about your case.
